So many people have told me about Heaton Bay Campground, and how wonderful it is. So, of course we had to pay it a glamping visit!

The sites where tight and smaller than I expected. However, if you reserve a site in the area with electric you will find much more room to spread out along with a paved level pad. We wanted to be close to the water, so we opted for a smaller site.

Heaton Bay is beautiful, and perfect for swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing, and any other water activity you could think of!

We visited the Dillon side of the lake a few times. We love hanging out at the beach at Marina Park. The landscaping and flowers are so beautiful! The beach is nice with some sandy spots. Daisy was able to swim here for hours.

We didn’t make it over to the Frisco side, but from past visits we know that is is full of shops, restaurants, and cafes.

There is a bike path that goes from Dillion to Frisco, and the campground sits right along the path. It was full of bicyclist and people walking. The path even goes over the dam.

I was feeling sick most of the trip, so we were not able to hike any trails. Summit County is full of hiking trails for all fitness levels. Click here for some ideas.

Our site had a lot of flowers blooming, along with humming birds! We put out the feeder during the day, taking it down when we left and at night. We didn’t want to attract any wild life to our camper (BEARS!).

We had a nice relaxing trip at Heaton Bay Campground. The campground does fill up quickly over the weekends, but the water, cycling, and hiking adventures make it well worth the stay.
