This was our first trip to Mueller S.P. The forest is healthy and well tended. While we camped, the monsoons rolled in every afternoon.

Dogs are not allowed on the trails, so we took turns going on hikes without Daisy. I hiked in to Brook Pond and Rock Pond to do some fly fishing. The hike is only about 4 miles round trip, and I caught a trout nearly every cast.
Natasha went on a hike to Lost Pond Loop, and the amazing Red Tail Overlook. The view was fantastic! The rock formations are breathtaking and there are drop off cliffs, too.
We had to search out trails outside of the park so we could hike with Daisy. We found a memorial trail close to downtown Divide. It is very open and exposed, but Daisy was able to run free and we all enjoyed the outing.
We also found a trail called the Memorial (Womens) Forest Trail (located at 511/375). It was a beautiful hike, through aspen groves, and no other hikers the entire time we were out.
Near Divide you can find the Wolf and Wildlife Center. Check their site for reservations.
Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is nearby, also. Do note that you are not allowed to let your dog go anywhere in the park—not even to the picnic tables!
Mueller Park is a great family State Park. There is lots to do with the kids. You will have to plan your days outside of the park if you want to include your dog.
